Tabitha will work alongside Prinda Wanakule, the FY12 Graduate Member Coordinator (GMC), and will take on the role of the GMC when FY13 starts in July.
Tabitha Voytek is a 3rd year PhD student in Physics at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), where she is working with Dr. Jeff Peterson on observational 21cm Cosmology using radio telescopes. She has been involved in SWE since 2004, both as an undergraduate and as a graduate student. As an undergraduate student at the University of the Pacific, Tabitha served as section vice-president in 2006 and section president in 2007. After completing her time as president, she joined the Collegiate Leadership Coaching Committee (CLCC) as a coach in region A until graduating in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics. Once in graduate school, Tabitha became regional lead in region G for the CLCC, a position she still holds. In addition, she is on the graduate student committee at the CMU collegiate section, and was a part of the WE11 graduate conference planning committee. Tabitha’s favorite part of being in SWE is all of the amazing friends and connections that she has been able to build over the years.
Tabitha brings a variety of experiences to this position, and we look forward to learning from her expertise in the upcoming year.
