Effectively educating future generations of engineers is an important and challenging endeavor. Our panel of professors and engineering educators shared their tips for engaging, insipring, and preparing future engineers based upon their experiences in the classroom and in the real world.
The panel included Candace Sulzbach from the Colorado School of Mines, Laura Fabris from Rutgers University, Jennifer Cole from Northwestern University, and Anne Silverman from the Colorado School of Mines.
They provided tips on engaging a large lecture classroom, incorporating real world examples, teaching your first engineering course, incorporating active learning into the classroom, and many other practical topics. Common themes included the importance of hands-on learning, relating equations and material to real world applications, and harnessing peer learning.
