Industrial Engineering, Georgia Tech
PhD expected 2021
We are excited to introduce Isabella Sanders, our Graduate Programming Coordinator for the GradSWE Leadership Team. Isabella works on facilitating graduate programming at WE20 (and WE19 last year as GPC-Elect). For the past three years she has served as the Graduate SWE Leader in the Georgia Tech SWE Section. She led the effort in rebuilding a strong Grad SWE leadership team at Georgia Tech. They hosted 10 industry, academic, and social events in the last semester alone.
Isabella attended WE17 and was selected to attend the ALWE program at WE18. She really enjoyed those experiences and has enjoyed contributing to the conference experience in her GradSWE role! She won 1st place at the 2019 WE Local St. Louis Graduate Research Competition. The same weekend, Georgia Tech selected her as the 2019 Outstanding Graduate Student at the Women of Distinction Awards for her “demonstration of exemplary leadership abilities, leading with heart, creating innovative solutions while inspiring and uplifting the entire Georgia Tech community.” Congratulations Isabella!
Isabella’s research topic is Fresh Supply Chains, focusing on hyper connectivity and physical internet applications. She is currently working on projects concerning Fresh-Cut Flower Supply Chains and Market Deployment models for farm-to-table platforms.
While pursuing multiple graduate degrees, Isabella is a published author in publications including the Physical Review Letters, and the IISE Conference Proceedings. Her academic achievement and potential have been recognized through the awarding of the 2019 SWE John Deere Scholarship, 1st place in the Graduate Engineering & Technology category of the research poster at the International GMiS conference, the A.J. Land MBA Fellowship to pursue a dual-degree at Georgia Tech, and the John Morris Fellowship from the Georgia Tech Industrial Engineering Department.
In her free time, Isabella enjoys swimming, running, baking and exploring Atlanta. Her favorite spots include the Georgia Aquarium and the beltline!
Fun Fact: Isabella was a D1 rower in college!
