We are excited to introduce our Professional Grad Team Lead, Abby Pakeltis! Abby has held this society-level position starting in March 2020. Before that, she was an Awards Committee Volunteer and a SWE Future Leader. Abby also held positions at SWE Illinois, as the SWE Illinois President in FY19, External Vice President in FY18, and Team Tech Co-Director in FY17. Her team won 1st place at WE17! Abby was also an Outstanding Collegiate Member in 2018.
Abby is in an online program for a Masters of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her goal is to learn more about the design process, systems engineering, and other cross-functional skills. Before this, Abby performed two rotations in the Engineering Development Program at John Deere. During her 1st rotation, she was a design engineer on the draper team where she mainly worked on continuous improvement and was also exposed to specific projects as a test engineer. For her 2nd rotation, she worked as a quality engineer supporting the combine line. Abby’s short term career goal is to be a design engineer.
Abby’s hobbies include travel, music, and exploring coffee shops and recreating the drinks at home. She loves live experiences. Her favorite activities include going to concerts and musicals to enjoy live music! She is a Broadway subscriber at her local theatre in Davenport, IA.
